Ice Cream Auntie

Not all heroes wear capes. Ice cream uncles have been an integral part of Singapore and specifically, they are everyone's savior for a not-so-good (aka shitty) days. But have you seen an ice cream auntie come save your day?

Meet 62 year old shy ice cream auntie (who doesn't want her face to be shown) who has been a resident ice cream seller outside Simei MRT for 14 years. As she does not possess a motorbike license, she would have to push her ice cream cart from her home nearby, and have her cart ready for business at 6:30PM daily, without fail.

It was mentioned by auntie that there was a lack of female in this industry due to its hard work which includes changing up heavy blocks of dry ice in the cart daily to ensure coldness so that ice cream stored inside will not melt. However, her motivation to stay on was the gleeful look on children whenever she passes them their ice cream.

"I will continue to sell ice cream till the day where I cannot move anymore." - Shy ice cream auntie

Auntie recalled also instances of young customers assuring her that they would pay for the ice cream after eating but instead, they would inch further and further away and eventually, run away. She was so kind that she didn't label them as thieves, but simply weird as she laughed and said, '$1 ice cream also want to cheat from me'.
